Beach permit dates and the 2027 calendar

Almost every Hamptons beach requires a permit from May 15 to September 15, but sales open at very different times. East Hampton Village sold its 2026 season permits on February 2. Quogue reopens applications on April 1, 2027. Most 2027 prices are not announced.

Buying early matters in the places that cap permits, and not at all where the office sells all season. Use this calendar to plan the next season. The dates below are 2026 unless marked. What is not known yet

As of October 2026, Southampton Town says to check back for 2027 permit sales. The East Hampton Village has not published 2027 dates, and neither have the Village of Southampton, Westhampton Beach or Shelter Island. In 2026 the Village of East Hampton opened its season sale on February 2, so a similar February date is plausible but not confirmed.

Practical timeline

  1. January and February: East Hampton Village season permits, if you want one.
  2. March to April: Quogue applications (from April 1), Southampton Town early-bird pricing and village resident letters.
  3. May 1: East Hampton Village monthly permits and Westhampton Beach sticker requirement.
  4. May 15: Season starts. Lifeguards typically begin on weekends around Memorial Day.
