2027 sales
Dates and prices not announced as of October 2026. The Village posts them on its permit page.

The Village of East Hampton controls five ocean beaches in and around the village. It caps non-resident permits at fixed numbers, so the sale date matters more here than at most other offices on the South Fork. If you rent for the summer, start with the East Hampton renter guide, because Town of East Hampton permits do not work at these beaches.

The five Village beaches

Main Beach, Georgica Beach, Egypt Beach, Wiborg Beach and Two Mile Hollow Beach all require a valid Village permit from May 15 through September 15. Lifeguards cover three of them: Main, Georgica and Two Mile Hollow, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on days the beaches are open.

Full-season permits are non-transferable and non-refundable, and a mailed sticker carries your plate. Monthly permits are digital only, linked to your plate with no physical sticker. A 6 percent card fee applies to online purchases. The Village warns that buying a Village permit by mistake when you wanted a Town permit gets no refund.

The January in-person sale was open only to East Hampton Town residents, with a registration in the taxpayer’s or renter’s name and proof of Town residency, either a Town tax bill or a year-round lease with three utility bills at an East Hampton address. One permit could be bought on behalf of another person.

Daily parking rules

Daily permits cover Main Beach Lot 2 and Two Mile Hollow only. They are available Monday through Thursday, indefinitely. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays depend on the Village Beach Manager. You may pay only after you have secured a space. Prepayment and refunds are not allowed.

Village residents

Village residents apply by mail, in person or online, and the resident page lists no fee. The Village mails letters to residents around March 1. Send or bring the vehicle registration. If an LLC, corporation or trust owns the property, bring the filing papers.

Year-round tenants inside the Village qualify under Section 267-5C(1)(b) of the Village Code. They need a copy of the year-round lease plus three of these: Village voter registration at the rental address, a driver’s license at that address, a vehicle registration at that address, one utility bill at that address, or a W-2 or tax return at that address.

Getting there without a permit

The Village long-term lot off Lumber Lane is free for 23 hours. The seasonal East Hampton Circuit shuttle (formerly the Free Ride) runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and connects the LIRR station, Jitney stop, Main Street and Main Beach. See the non-resident access guide for more routes, and the permit calendar for when 2027 sales are likely to open.

Rules that are Village law

No vehicles are permitted on Village beaches between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. from May 15 through September 15, and driving on any East Hampton beach needs a Town drive-on permit. Under Village Code, dogs are not allowed on Village beaches from May 15 to September 15 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Outside those hours dogs must be leashed within 300 feet of any ocean road end.

Common questions

Is there parking at Main Beach without a permit?

Fifteen-minute spaces at the head of the beach need no permit. You may also park at any Village beach before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. without one.

What is the difference between Lot 1 and Lot 2 at Main Beach?

Lot 1 is for pass holders who rent lockers, and Village resident vehicles may use it after 1 p.m. Lot 2 takes all resident and non-resident permitted vehicles.

How is Village parking enforced?

By license plate scanner. Digital monthly and daily permits are linked to your plate, and full-season stickers carry a plate number.
