How to apply

Resident, renter, local non-village and summer visitor permits are available by mail or at the dropbox at the Village Hall main entrance, 23 Main Street. The Village encourages mail and dropbox applications to limit crowding. To buy a seasonal pass in person, go to the Registrar’s Office.

Cooper’s Beach daily pass

Cooper’s Beach, at 268 Meadow Lane, is the only Village beach with lifeguards. For 2026 the Village sold daily passes at $55, in person from parking attendants. They went on sale on weekends from May 23, then daily from June 20 through September 7. Display a permit on the left rear window and a daily pass on the front windshield. Motorcycles and mopeds need a permit or pass too. Alcohol and pets are not permitted.

Cooper’s Beach has its own page with access details. Beach conditions and what to bring are on Hamptons Beach Day.

The other ten beaches

Cryder, Fowler, Gin Lane, Halsey Neck Lane, Little Plains Road, Old Town, Road D, Road G and Wyandanch are swim-at-your-own-risk beaches. Dune Beach is for Village residents only. None of them has lifeguards, and none has a daily pass.

Four-wheel-drive access

The Village publishes separate 2026 guidelines for beach 4x4 permits on its beaches page. Southampton Town Trustees run a different 4x4 system for Town and Trustee beaches. See the beach driving guide.

2026 proposal that did not pass

In August 2026 the Village floated year-round permit parking at some beaches. Mayor William Manger Jr. announced at the public hearing that the Village would return to its seasonal system, in effect May 15 through September 15, according to News 12. The seasonal dates above stand.

Why this is not the Town permit

The Village is a separate government from Southampton Town. A Town sticker works at Ponquogue, Flying Point and Mecox. A Village sticker works at the eleven beaches above. Neither works at the other’s lots. The Town versus Village guide has a one-page comparison.

Common questions

Does a Town of Southampton permit work at Cooper's Beach?

No. The Town says its permits are not valid at Cooper's Beach or other village beaches. Buy a Village permit or the Cooper's daily pass.

Who can buy the $600 summer visitor permit?

The application lists it for a summer visitor with a valid vehicle registration. The lower categories ask for year-round proof, such as utility bills dated from spring 2025 to spring 2026, so a seasonal renter normally lands here.

Can I get a daily pass at Gin Lane or Wyandanch?

The Village sells daily passes for Cooper's Beach only. Other village beaches are permit-only.
